The Car—WITH FACEBOOK
We’ve seen some pretty wild things in the consumer world, but one thing we can be certain of: apps are changing the traditional way we live our lives.
With our smartphones always within arm’s reach, we can now access all the information we want and need with just the touch of a button. Now, apps are finding other ways to infiltrate our lives and turn them into the ultimate game of convenience.
For example, did you catch, in last year’s Superbowl, the commercial for the Chevy Cruze? The Chevy Cruze is the first car to feature an integrated Facebook app. Now you don’t even have to wait until you get home to update your status.
Even Ford is jumping on the app train. The system, AppLink, uses Ford’s Sync voice-activation technology to operate smartphone apps. Ford is now offering their AppLink software on ten more models for the upcoming year.
Our smartphones are always with us, and apps on our actual phone have interwoven with every aspect of our life. It is now possible to turn on your car, turn off the lights, control your TV and sound system and even arm or disarm your security system, all from the palm of your hand. What CAN’T apps do for us?
It is innovations such as the Chevy Cruze Facebook integration and Ford’s AppLink that have me wondering just what will be next.
